THE PLACES DECLARED SACRED BY LORD.

Bodhgaya  assumed  importance for  the Buddhists all over   the world as the place where 

bodhisatta  Siddhartha attained     buddhahood .       it remains an international  centre of 

Buddhism for them. the mahaparinabbana sutta states that load Buddha, when enquired by 

ananda at the time of his great demise , spoke of four places beimg sacred for the followers 

                                              of buddhism. These are

1..lumbini, where siddharth was born :

2.. bodhgaya  ,where bodhisatta Siddhartha attained enlightenment ;

3.. sarnath( lispattana migadava) where load Buddha delivered his first sermon to the group 

of five monks and founded the order of the monks( bhikkhusangha);and

4..kusinara (kusinagara);where lond Buddha attained his great demise,
