HIS FIRM RESOLVE

Thus, the place remained a field of his spiritual efforts for about six year . here , he

practiced various austerities and meditation , and subjected his physical need to severe

restraints but for all his efforts , he could not gain what he wished and eventually , he

conceded toaccept the sweet dish (kheer) offered by subject , whish symbolized his

rejections of the ungainful  path of severe austerities. then, he approached the mahabodhi

tree where he made up his mind. the Following passage allows us an insight into his state of

mind at the moment “ even if am emaciated sititing  here : even if my skin, bones and flash

are dissolved ; I will not budge from this spot until and unless I have attained the

enlightenment which is hard to attain in all kalpa s.

Thus, the bodhisatta was eventually able to attain enlightenment . he defeated mara he had
an insight into his proveious births, his inner etes were opened he knew about thedependent

origination . and he became omniscient to quote his words from ht Dhammapada

Anekajatisansarang sandhvissang anivvisang . Ghakarakang gavesanto dukkhajati

( I travelled trough many births . in this world and tired to  find the builder of this house . it

is sorrowful to be born again  and again . o builder of the house ! have seen you ,you will

not build a house ever again . all your rafters are broken and the rooftop is shattered my

mind has transcended mental states . the desires have been destroyed )  NEXT  POST  3/....
