from construction to excavation... 2 ။


The boundary wall and .        the vijrasana are the oldest     construction around here . 


premsumably , there women including two queens of the mitra rulers contributed to the 


construction of the wall during late first century A.D in a dig way , it is also now an evidence –supported fact that

The boundary wall was extended during the Gupta regime .


The inscriptions discovered at bodhagaya reveal that king meghaverma or meghavarna ofsiri 


lanka constructed a three –minaret sangharama at the place during the Gupta REGIME (388 


A.D) and it was surrounded by walls as high as 30-40 ft. wang-hiuen –tse also records that 


the above mentiones king sent a letter to king samudra Gupta of the Gupta clan (335-76 A.D)

Seeking the latter,s permission to construct a vihara where the monks and pilgrims from siri 

lanka could stay.   The Chinese buddhaist  traveler fa-hein visited the plce in 409 A.D TO 

quote from his travelogue there are three viharas where lord Buddha had attained enlightenment and


These are inhabited by the monk . the sangha observes the rules of discipline lord Buddha,s 


lifetime the sanctity or solemnity of their conduct still persist.
